the next read. the title got me on this one.
Downer’s Grove was one of the most well-written books I have ever read. the portrayal and capturing of teenage confusion, neurotics and love was so honest and relatable to me. i got a strange sense of high school nostalgia reading the book, and I think it’s because of the prose. while written from a 1st person perspective, there’s a sense of rhythm and prose as you read that once you get into the groove, it’s hard to put down. i absolutely loved this book and am ridiculously excited that Bret Easton Ellis will be adapting it for a film.
